Etna High Altitude Excursion
Our Etna High Altitude Excursion consists:
First, a bus will depart at 2pm from the conference venue and will take you to an altitude of 1900 meters. Once there, the Etna cable car will take you to 2500 m altitude. Finally 4×4 off-road buses will drive you up to about 3000 m, to a place called “Torre del Filosofo”.
You will have the opportunity to have a walk on the edge of the “Crateri Barbagallo”, reaching the base of the still active South-Eastern Crater, with the assistance of a Volcanological Alpine Guide (about 40 minutes).
At the end of the walk, the off-road bus will take you back to the arrival station of the cable car at 2500 m and you will arrive to the departure station at 1900 m in about 15 minutes. The total duration of this excursion is about 2 hours.
In case of eruptive activity of the crater or alert, for safety reasons, the excursion will stop at the “Belvedere” where you will take a walk of about 30 minutes to the “Crateri Sommitali” and you can look out over the “Valle del Bove”, assisted by the Volcanological Alpine Guides.
The off-road vehicle will continue its journey up to the Crater emerged during the eruption of year 2001 where, always accompanied by an Alpine Guide, you will make a trekking walk of about 30 minutes to get to the top of the crater. Finally, you will take the cable car back to 1900 m (in this case the total duration will be around 2 and a half hours).
A bus will take you back to Catania Centre.
The overall length of the trip is around 4h30/5h.
The price for one person is 187 € (VAT INCLUDED). This include transport by bus to Etna and back, cable car, off road bus and volcanologist Alpine guide.
This price is calculated considering 20 people. If the number of people is less, the tour will not take place.
The trip must be booked by April 30th, any response and payment must be received no later than May 9, 2023.
